Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations

At Garden Lights Direct, we are committed to supporting environmentally responsible practices by providing our customers with the opportunity to recycle their old electrical equipment when purchasing new items from us.

Why Recycle Your Equipment?

Unwanted electrical and electronic equipment is one of the fastest-growing waste streams in the UK. Recycling these items not only helps protect the environment but also conserves valuable natural resources.

When electrical items are discarded improperly, they may end up in landfill sites, where hazardous substances can leak into the soil and water, causing harm to wildlife and human health. Recycling helps mitigate these risks and supports a more sustainable future.

How Garden Lights Direct Can Help You Recycle

We are pleased to offer all customers a free "take-back" service for old electrical equipment on a like-for-like basis. When you purchase a new electrical item from Garden Lights Direct, you can return your old equipment for recycling.

To take advantage of this service:

  • Bring your old equipment to our premises in person:
    Garden Lights Direct,
Unit 18 Sycamore Business Park, Dishforth Road, Ripon, HG4 5DF.

To identify which items can be recycled, look for the crossed-out wheelie bin symbol on your equipment. This symbol indicates that the product should not be disposed of with general household waste.

Please ensure that all electrical equipment, regardless of whether it bears the symbol, is recycled responsibly.

What is WEEE?

The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive is a European law that requires the separate collection and environmentally friendly processing of electrical and electronic waste.

In the UK, all distributors and retailers of electrical equipment are legally obligated to offer a system that enables customers to recycle old items free of charge when purchasing new ones. Garden Lights Direct adheres to these regulations by providing a like-for-like take-back scheme for electrical products.

Our Commitment

By recycling your old electrical equipment through Garden Lights Direct, you are helping to:

  • Reduce environmental impact
  • Conserve natural resources
  • Prevent harmful substances from entering the ecosystem

We are dedicated to making the recycling process straightforward and accessible for all our customers. If you have any questions about our WEEE recycling program, please contact us at info@gardenlightsdirect.co.uk.

Legal Compliance
This recycling service complies with the WEEE Regulations 2013 and all subsequent amendments. Failure to comply with these regulations can result in legal penalties. Garden Lights Direct is committed to fulfilling its obligations under these laws and supporting sustainable waste management practices.

By purchasing from Garden Lights Direct, you acknowledge and agree to our WEEE recycling policy as outlined above.
